Pet Product Producers Against Cruelty to Animals
The PPPACA Initiative supports adults impacted by incarceration by helping provide access to pet care, food, temporary boarding, foster support, and essential resources for pets that offer emotional support and companionship during difficult seasons of life. We also support loved ones who may unexpectedly become caregivers for someone else's pet during periods of incarceration or hardship. Through community partnerships and compassionate support, we work to help keep pets safe and individuals connected whenever possible.

Pets often become emotional anchors during survival seasons.
Research surrounding the human-animal bond shows that pets can help reduce stress, loneliness, anxiety, and emotional distress while increasing feelings of comfort, stability, routine, and connection. For many individuals impacted by incarceration, pets provide emotional support during some of life's most difficult seasons and often become an important source of consistency, purpose, and companionship while rebuilding life.
The PPPACA Initiative exists to help preserve that connection whenever possible through support, resources, temporary care assistance, and community partnerships.

Psychological & Reintegration Benefits
Research surrounding the human-animal bond continues to show powerful emotional and behavioral benefits connected to pet companionship and animal-assisted support programs. Studies involving incarcerated individuals and reintegration programs have linked animal companionship with reduced stress, lower anxiety, improved emotional regulation, increased empathy, stronger social connection, and healthier coping skills.
Research on prison dog and animal-assisted programs has also shown promising connections to lower recidivism rates, improved behavior, increased responsibility, and stronger reintegration outcomes for individuals rebuilding life after incarceration. For many individuals navigating incarceration, transition, or recovery, pets provide more than companionship. They provide routine, emotional grounding, connection, purpose, and unconditional support during seasons where isolation and instability are common.
The PPPACA Initiative exists to help protect and preserve that connection whenever possible — because healing and reintegration are strengthened through stability, responsibility, and meaningful emotional bonds.
